Iona Macintyre

Iona Macintyre (New Haven, 1977) estudió en las universidades de Glasgow, Manchester, y Nottigam. Ahora es Senior Lecturer en Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies' en la Universidad de Edinburgh, Escocia. Enseña historia y cultura Latino Americana, con particular interés en el siglo XIX y en los estudios de la traducción. También ha hecho investigación y publicado artículos sobre los libros de Jorge Accame. Con Fiona Mackintosh tradujo al inglés la novela de Gabriela Cabezón Cámara, The Adventures of the China Iron (Charco Press, 2019), que es parte de la lista de finalistas del prestigioso premio Booker Prize 2020. En 2020 fue una de los traductores de Bode Inspiratório / Escape Goat, la zaga inspirada en el COVID-19 y escrita por diversos autores portugueses. 

Iona Macintyre (New Haven, 1977) studied at the universities of Glasgow, Manchester and Nottingham. Today, she is a Senior Lecturer in ‘Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies’ at the University of Edinburgh. She teaches Latin American history and culture, particularly that of the nineteenth century, and also Translation Studies. She has also published books and articles about Jorge Accame. Iona and her colleague Fiona Mackintosh translated the English version of Gabriela Cabezón Camara’s novel Las aventuras de la China Iron (Charco Press, 2019), shortlisted The 2020 International Booker Prize. In 2020 she was one of the multiple English translators of Bode Inspiratório / Escape Goat, the Covid-inspired serial novel penned by multiple Portuguese authors.
